Teaching Statement

Teaching music is my life’s calling. Throughout my career, I have worked with students of all ages and experience levels, carefully designing individualized lesson plans that inspire each student to explore and develop their musical potential. I believe that every student learns differently, and with my Teacher’s Certificate and years of experience, I am well-equipped to adapt my teaching methods to suit a variety of learning styles.

My goal is to guide students step-by-step on their musical journey — encouraging creativity, building confidence, and nurturing a lifelong love of music. I inspire students to create their own simple compositions and improvisations, helping them develop not just technical skills but also musical expression. I hope my students come to play music naturally and joyfully, sharing their talents with family and friends.

I am trained in a wide range of musical styles, including Classical, Rock, Jazz, Contemporary, Steel Pan, Tabla, Latin-American, and African drumming. I teach many different percussion instruments, such as Marimba, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Bells, Multiple Percussion, Snare Drum, Drum Set, and Timpani. Additionally, I offer lessons conducted in Mandarin if preferred.

Recognizing that every student’s needs are unique, I offer flexible scheduling and rates. Lesson lengths are available in 30-minute, 45-minute, 1-hour, or 1.5-hour formats. While weekly lessons are recommended, alternative schedules can be arranged to best fit each student's needs.

I look forward to helping each student discover the joy and power of making music.
